Duckweed Case Study
This series of photos shows a detailed progression of the removal of duckweed over the course of fourteen days. This one-third acre pond in Fairfield County, Connecticut was completely covered with duckweed when the System was first installed. These photos show the progression of the skimming process, the large volumes of weeds collected, and final results. Even though this pond is small, a very large volume of weeds was collected.
This is a very typical situation – weeds are removed in large quantities. As their thickness and density decline, weeds may either be dispersed into small clumps over the pond or pushed to one side, depending upon the prevailing wind. Skimming rates can be affected by wind, thunderstorms, currents and other natural phenomena.
